…what does that even mean?
That’s the question I asked my self when I first heard about the concept that WordPress was fronting. Gutenberg is the idea WordPress is currently without tiring investing to create a better publishing experience for its platform users and creators.
Beware of the dark forces…
As a developer, advocate and user of WordPress, I was scared and excited for the first time. Fear being the greatest; for I have developed hundreds of sites using this unique platform and little birds were speaking of a major breakdown.
A survey for all things.
As humans, we all have a dark side we want to hide. So I did a survey online to to find out what the rest of Africa was doing about this new trend.
“You must be nuts!” you say.
Yah! I couldn’t agree more. However, I was not ready to go down when my bread-winning platform was about to take a turn.
I hate being on the uninformed side. So what did I do about?
I bought a domain – omukiuy.com to experiment and also document for both non-developers (bloggers, clients, tech enthusiasts ) and developers.
My goal was to make access to the information from both angles that are both “techie” and “non-techie”… you get the drift…
How can you write about a experience if you have not dived into it?
I immediately install the default WordPress theme “twentyfifteen” (It looks neat but this might change someday) and I added Gutenberg to the plugins section.
Well, I just created the paragraph and quote above then dragged them up to position. So that is a +1 and +2 for not having to select the block of content to drag.
How am I doing so far?
Well, I have been using my tab button on the keyboard to create new paragraphs. That’s the freshness of Gutenberg to my publishing. There is more to come. I am sure once Gutenberg is complete. They will have a better documentation than I do. Well, keep your eyes peeled. I might be doing a YouTube channel soon for those who are visual.
What will I be doing in the near future?
Well, I am going to open a omukiguy.wordpress.com blog to see how WordPress is doing the release of this product to the easiest testing market they have and I will be back to write some more.
Cheers….
