Amidst the rain

Our queries and complaints were quickly received
For we tanned gold as we simmered and cooked Marinated by the sweat and salt
Had the day shone any brighter, we would have become a crisp
Thank the heavens for needn’t be billed for dusting our lungs
Huffed and coughed were the new days
We felt all was lost for we had no remedy at hand

Through the mud we slipped, skied and travailed
And staggered but there no cheer and merrymaking of wine
All patience was lost and in our jackets did we coil
We sprouted new shoots but were shrank by the tempest
Again Jeers and no thanks were quickly received
For we felt lost and no remedy was at sight

We now looked for new songs that raise our mood
Thank the heavens for the blinding bright ray of Hope that was at hand
Embodied in flesh as the person of Christ
For now there was something worth rejoicing about.
